What is Luxury?

Updated: Mar 6

Key identifiers of luxury brands are high-quality, expensive, and non-essential products and services that appear to be rare, exclusive, prestigious, and authentic and offer high levels of symbolic and emotional/hedonic values through customer experiences.

Therefore, consumers, most of the time associate big brands and logos with Luxury, as it gives status and recognition. But is it the luxury you get with the logo, or it is a marketing trick?

This is how brands who are marked to be luxurious have done it- they established images in the minds of consumers that comprise associations about a strong degree of exclusiveness, selectiveness, extraordinariness, superiority, aesthetics, rarity, price, quality, and many other intangible features and symbolic meanings.

But here is what you should be looking out for if you want to embrace true luxury when we talk about the fashion industry :

- Quality

- Comfort

- Design

The companies made us believe that luxury was the rare, the expensive, the exclusive, everything that seemed unattainable...

Now we realize that luxury was those little things that we did not know how to value when we had them, and now that they are gone. You don't need big brand items to achieve luxury. You can be at your home, sit in your pyjamas and feel like a billion dollars.

Luxury is not only about the items you own, it is about the mindset. Keep your environment clean and tidy, wear clean and comfortable clothing that makes you feel confident. Create a routine that makes you feel accomplished. Practice self-care and read books that enrich your mind. That is the real luxury, to be able to see the things that matter the most. Some people might have all the expensive new items, but they might still don't know what luxury feels like as they lack appreciation and understanding.

Real luxury starts with you and your mindset.
